Brett, a chic urbanite, goes hiking with her married outdoorsy brother, Jake. We find out that Brett has a habit of going out with a guy once and only once, because they never quite live up to her list of qualifications for the ideal mate. When Jake dryly comments that marriage involves a lot more risk-taking and a lot less list-making, she is not at all amused, but is willing to at least consider the possibility that dating might involve someone less than perfect.

This piece is full of witty repartee and great one-liners. Excellent singles piece.

Cathy is a shy, repressed seminary student from South Carolina. She's gotten up her courage and is trying to pick out a nice bathing suit at the Victoria's Secret store in the mall. But lo and behold, she runs into an old buddy from college, an airhead surfer salesclerk, and finally her even more repressed younger brother who thinks that having a physical body is dire sin. An uproarious examination of our tendency as Christians to have an unhealthy mind-body split.

Very funny.

Though he has a good job and is a seemingly normal kind of guy, Ben has a pup tent in his apartment rather than a bed and keeps his belongings in cardboard boxes. When a visiting dinner guest in quires about this set up, it becomes evident that Ben's entire life is on hold until he meets the woman who will be his wife.

This funny, thought-provoking piece stresses living life fully as a single person.

Joseph stops for the night at an old man's house. He's on his ride back from visiting his betrothed, Mary, at Zechariah and Elizabeth's home. After finding out she was with child, he had ridden to Elizabeth's to inform Mary that it was all over. But she had seemed so beautiful and so convinced of her crazy story about bearing the son of God, he hadn't had the heart to go through with the break up. On his way back though, he had made up his mind to turn his horse around and tell her, but instead he soon fell into a deep sleep where he dreamed of an angel who told him that Mary would indeed bear a son who would save the world from its sins. And when he had awakened that morning, he too knew it was true.

A peaceful story of faith and wonder.
