Hildegard of Bingen - A Feather on the Breath of God
When I was 42 years and 7 months old, a burning light of tremendous brightness poured into my entire mind, inflamed my entire heart. A voice from heaven said to me, "Write and speak what you see and hear."
Thus began the odyssey that took an obscure uneducated nun on a journey to become a 12th century author, poet, musician, healer, naturalist and prophetic voice for her time; her counsel being sought after by everyone from local peasants to the papacy in Rome, Elenor of Aquitaine and King Henry II. Actress and playwright Carol Anderson powerfully portrays Hildegard of Bingen, a woman of wisdom, wit and passion. Hildegard's struggle to obey God's voice in the face of politics of her times creates a fascinating story of faith and courage. Testimonials"When I saw the performance I was truly astonished ... a marvelously accurate and entertaining portrayal of Hildegarde."
Bruce Hozeski, Ph. D. Translator of Hildegarde's book, CVIVIAS and Founder of the International Society of Hildegarde von Bingen Studies. "A moving, authentic and powerful portrayal of the life of the Mystic." The Rev. Elizabeth Canham, Executive Director of Still Point Ministries, Inc. "It was an incredible performance. But it was more than a performance, it was inspired. I will take away the look on your face at the end. The light was full on your face when you said, "I am a feather on the breath of God." I have seen a lot on Broadway and this performance was up there with some of the best. " Sue Monk Kidd, NY Times Best Selling Author of The Secret Lives of Bees |
